FITMENT & COMPATIBILITY GUIDE

Fitment & Compatibility Guide

At Duff Moto MFG, we want every part you order to be the right part. Fitment errors are one of the most common — and most avoidable — issues in the powersports parts world. This guide will help you order with confidence.

Why Fitment Matters

Powersports parts are highly model-specific. A part that fits a 2019 Honda CRF250R may not fit a 2020 model, even if they look identical. Small changes in model years, regional variants, and submodels can make a significant difference. Installing the wrong part can cause poor performance, damage to your machine, or create a safety hazard.

It is the customer's responsibility to verify compatibility before placing an order. We are not responsible for parts ordered for the wrong application. Please review our Refund Policy for details on returns.

How to Verify Fitment

Step 1 — Know Your Machine

Before ordering any part, have the following information ready:

  • Year — the model year of your machine (not the year you purchased it)
  • Make — the manufacturer (Honda, Yamaha, KTM, Polaris, etc.)
  • Model — the exact model name (CRF250R, YZ450F, 450 SX-F, etc.)
  • Submodel or variant — some models have regional or spec variants that affect parts compatibility
  • VIN — your Vehicle Identification Number can help confirm exact build specs if you're unsure

Step 2 — Check the Product Listing

Each product listing on our store includes fitment information where available. Read the full product description carefully, including any fitment notes or compatibility warnings. If a listing says "fits 2018-2022" — verify your machine falls within that range.

Step 3 — When in Doubt, Ask Us First

We are mechanics, not just a parts store. If you're unsure whether a part fits your machine, contact us before ordering — not after. We'd rather spend five minutes helping you confirm fitment than have you deal with a return.

Common Fitment Mistakes to Avoid

  • Assuming model year doesn't matter — it almost always does. Even mid-year production changes can affect fitment.
  • Ordering by appearance alone — two parts can look identical and have different specifications, thread pitches, or mounting points.
  • Ignoring submodels — a "standard" and "X" or "R" variant of the same model may use different components.
  • Confusing displacement — a 250cc and 450cc version of the same model line will share very few parts.
  • Not checking OEM part numbers — if you have access to your machine's OEM parts diagram, cross-referencing the part number is the most reliable way to confirm fitment.

OEM Part Numbers

If you know the OEM part number for the component you need, include it when you contact us. This is the fastest and most reliable way to ensure you get exactly the right part. We can often source OEM and aftermarket equivalents when you provide the part number.
